12102006 Simon's exciting X-Games Qualifier win not only secured his entry into ESPN's February Winter X-Games snocross event, but it sent a message out to RMR Central Pros that he's back and ready to go in the Pro Champion points chase. With 2 laps to go, Simon's Wallingford Racing powered XPS, Ski-doo Rev took the lead from friend, and competitor Danny Poirier and his Polaris IQ, just like the "old days." Battling through a pack of talented riders, Simon chased Danny's snowflap for 2 laps before overtaking him at the top of the course. A great race for the fans to watch and a major boost for Simon who had to sit out last season due to an injury. Simon also had to fight his way through the pack to earn a hard-fought third place finish in the Pro Open final. The Wallingford Racing Mod motor really shined in it's debut and shows a lot a promise to power the HMS team to Open class wins this season. Major kudos go out to RMR for fielding an impressive 17 sled, 300 Freestyle class on Sunday! This class really offers our 8 to 10 year old kids a competitive class to compete in on "the Big track!" Our youngest team member, Jordan scored an impressive runner-up finish in Sunday's 300cc final. Jordan also followed her big sister Sara to second and third place finishes in the Jr. Girls 600cc Fan final. Below is a video clip of the X-Games Qualifier race with an interview of Simon at the end. The video is courtesy of www.RADXSports.com Jeff and Colleen Harrison |
