C.W.'s Consistency Strengthens Quest for Season Championship

3•2•08 C.W. and Darrin get the lion's share of the spotlight at the races, but this weekend the spotlight belongs to our youngest racer, Jordan Harrison! Jordan scored her first feature win with her flag-to-flag performance in the Girls 600 Fan final! No stranger to the winner's circle in the 120cc and 300 Freestyle ranks, Jordan scored her first "big sled" feature win on Sunday in Skowhegan with her big sister Sara Harrison giving chase for another HMS 1-2 finish!

Sara, who continues her consistent streak of top 2 finishes, didn't hand lil sister the win. Jordy earned it and the cheers from Sara after the race are what this is all about! Sara ran another solid weekend posting a first and second in qualifying and holds a 25 point cushion over second place racer Sarah Acker.

Jordy started off with a fourth in her first round qualifier, then bumped it up a notch to a third in her second round. Jordan's win was a great confidence booster and shows she can compete with girls 2, 3 years older than her. After sitting out the Ossipee race with the flu, Jordan got right back in the saddle in her hunt for a top 3 finish for season championship points. Great job Jordan and Sara!

Proud Papa Jeff celebrates Jordy and Sara's 1-2 finish in Skowhegan.

flag on the table top after her win.

Pro Spotlight Conflict
So who gets the spotlight here? Darrin Mees scores another win, but C.W. Sirjane continues his podium streak and strengthens points lead in both Pro classes. Dub holds the points lead in both Pro Stock and Pro Open, so we'll go with him first. Scoring class wins are certainly what everyone strives for, but C.W.'s focus remains the overall season title. Winning alot of pots in the poker tournament is great, but being the last one with all the chips is the ultimate goal. This is the goal C.W. is on the path of achieving for himself and the Harrison Motorsports team and sponsors.

The first Pro final on Sunday was the Pro Open final where the Crank Shop power was on display as they powered Darrin and C.W. to a 1-2 finish for the second straight weekend. Darrin Mees struggled in the Open qualifying, but came back on Sunday to score his third Pro Open win on the season. C.W. followed Darrin in for the second podium position, his 5th Pro Open runner-up finish of the season.

In the second Pro final, Darrin and C.W. were both running in the top 3 when with four laps to go, Darrin had a get off in the turn 2 switch-back and was unable to continue with uh, a slight mechanical malfunction and was unable to finish the race. Meanwhile, C.W. again finished in the runner-up spot, good for a 19 point cushion in season points.

In Semi Pro action, Shaun St. Onge was 1 lap away from another podium finish in the Stock 600 final when a get off cost him a third place finish. Although frustrating, Shaun continues to hold down the fourth place position in both the Stock and Open points chase.

While we were racing in Ossipee, NH, Garret Mees was busy cutting the cast off his wrist in the pits and focusing on racing in Skowhegan. Because his Sport class points chase was cut short with the wrist injury, Garret stepped up to the Semi Pro ranks in Skowhegan and qualified for both finals. In the Semi Pro Stock 600 final, Garret grabbed the holeshot and led for the first few laps before a crash ended his bid for the win. Garret did a great job to qualify after sitting out with the broken wrist.

The second Semi Pro spot was made available after Nathan Loschiavo's season ended after a back injury in Osspiee. We want to thank Nate for representing Harrison Motorsports in such a professional manner and hope for a speedy recovery. Nate is a class act and his efforts will be missed.

Another highlight of the weekend was Connor Roscoe's two wins on the weekend while he carried the WSI banner across the winner's stripe on Saturday and Sunday. Connor, the son of "That's Great News' Bob Roscoe, fought off Jake Scott, Matt Cameron and Leo Patenaude for the RMR East Jr. 380 Fan win on Saturday and repeated his win on Sunday besting some of the best, lower Junior racers in the circuit. Connor ran some smart races and we're thrilled for his success.

We'll have the weekend off before we return to the points chase in Barton, Vermont on March 15 & 16. Thanks for checking in on the Team HMS results and we hope to see you soon at the races.
